Insect screens provide protection for your crew against the threat of flies, wasps and airborne insects. Such insects can be a nuisance as they are often unhygienic, can bite and in some cases are life threatening. In the marine industry this threat can be first hand – as vessels are travelling from port to port around the globe, entering in and out of humid and tropical climates where insects such as mosquitoes thrive.
A vessel can become a very warm place when in full operation, insect protection screens provide natural ventilation without the threat of insects entering through windows and doors. Another threat is food contamination, a fly can transmit diseases such as typhoid and dysentery, which can lead to sickness and diarrhoea of your crew – insect screens prevent this!
The PVC frame of the magnetic insect screen fits to the inside or outside of an existing window frame with self adhesive fixing pads. (Alternatively the magnetic insect screen can be fixed into place using screws) The insect mesh is then attached to the PVC frame by a magnetic strip, which can be peeled back to open and close the window, allowing easy access. If the screen opens outwards the screen should be fitted on the inside, and vice versa.
Fully retractable with cassette protection and side channels, the mesh can be positioned open or closed depending upon circumstances. If the climate becomes humid or warm the screen can be pulled down into position for maximum protection. In colder climates or during winter periods the screen can be retracted back into the cassette . If the subject window opens outwards the screen should be fitted on the inside – and vice versa.
Our most robust roller screen system, with additional anti-wind brush strips which hold the mesh firmly in the side channels – protecting the screen even in the most windy conditions at sea. A fully retractable screen with cassette protection and side channels, fully weather proof. If the subject window opens outwards the screen should be fitted on the inside – and vice versa.
The insect panel door screen consists of a series of weighted mesh panels which are hung from a track above the door, these panels can be fitted on the inside or the outside of the door. The insect panel door screen is a cost effective way of screening doorways on board a vessel – especially effective in kitchen areas, on fire doors and in staff communal areas, to protect crew members and food reserves. If the door opens outwards the screen should be fitted on the inside – and vice versa.
